Punta Cana Open Golf Tournament Dominican Republic
Following last year’s huge success, Palmera Destination Services continue with the 2nd annual Punta Cana Open, which will take place in Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic from November 8 – 15.
The golf tournament is only for amateurs with a maximum handicap of 32.0.
Last year ca. 120 players from several countries including Sweden, Denmark, Spain, France, USA, Aruba, Curacao and Brazil participated in the Punta Cana Open. This year, we expect to be able to fill up the spots fast and to have an equally varied group of players – people who love to travel, meet new people and who enjoy the game of golf.
Accommodation
Palmera Destination Services is working hard towards becoming the leading organizer of golf tournaments in the Dominican Republic. With already two successful golf events (1st Annual Punta Cana International Open in November 2007 and the Punta Cana Spring Classic in April 2008), Palmera has many more golf tournaments on the drawing board. Among these are a couples’ tournament, a Nations Cup and a Ryder Cup.
For the 2nd Punta Cana Open, all players will be staying at the 5-star, all inclusive resort Melia Caribe Tropical. For players who wish a little more luxury, accommodation at the Melia Royal Service is available – both are part of the same resort.
Signature design
The tournament will be kicked off with an opening ceremony – a cocktail party with buffet dinner on the beach (if the weather conditions allow it). The tropical atmosphere, good food, open bar and music will create the perfect scene to start off another great golf tournament.
Over a total of 4 rounds, players from all over the world will compete on Punta Cana’s finest golf courses which include: Punta Blanca (Nick Price design), Cocotal Golf & Country Club (Jose “Pepe” Gancedo design), La Cana (P. B. Dye design) and Punta Espada (Jack Nicklaus signature design). The Punta Espada golf course was the host of the PGA Champion’s Tour in March-April 2008 and announced as the first annual Champion’s Tour to be held at Punta Espada during this year’s tournament week.
During the Punta Cana Open, live scoring with updated scores for each player during every round will be uploaded continuously to the official website for the tournament www.puntacanaopen.com
The tournament will end with a lavish gala dinner including prize ceremony.
