KLM for another three years chief sponsor KLM Dutch Open Golf Tournament
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has associated its name as chief sponsor of the KLM Dutch Open Golf Tournament for another three years. This will keep the prestigious tournament on the European Tour calendar for 2007, 2008, and 2009. This year, the KLM Open will run from August 10 to 13 at the Kennemer Golf & Country Club. The KLM Ladies Open will run from June 2 to 4 at the Eindhovensche Golf.
During the 1980s, KLM was the chief sponsor of the most important Dutch golf event for ten years. Since 2004, KLM has again been chief sponsor of the Dutch Open.
KLM experiences were positive during the last two years. Working with their partners, they have managed to put together a highly professional tournament which can grow much more in the years to come.
Tournament director Daan Slooter of THIS IS GOLF is pleased with the decision.
KLM is sending an important signal to the organization, the players, the Tour, and to all golf lovers. The Netherlands deserves a top tournament and that is now guaranteed for the years to come.
The KLM Open is part of the European Tour and is supported by partners KLM, Fortis, and KPMG. Spaniard Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño, Rookie of The Year in the European Tour 2005, is the title-holder. The KLM Open is one of the most-visited sport events in the Netherlands. In 2005, the prize money amounted to EUR 1.5 million.
