Ross Fisher wins The KLM Open

Ross Fisher won the KLM Open 2007. The finishing day ended in a thriller. Ross Fisher entered hole 18 with a –11. The same score as number two Joost Luiten. Fisher had to hole for birdie to win the tournament. Even when he holed this eight footer his trials were not over. Eventually he had to survive a rules enquiry to win The KLM Open.

Fisher birdied the final hole for a closing three under par 67 and a 12 under par 268 aggregate, to take the title by a stroke from young Dutchman Joost Luiten.The rules enquiry incident was instignated by a spectator who saw Fisher lifting a bramble runner The 26 year old Englishman had to return to the 12th hole to prove he had not broken a rule by lifting the bramble runner and then check out the incident on video before he was cleared to collect the €266,666 first prize.After a thorough examination of the incident Fisher's actions were not deemed illegal.In the meantime the spectators at hole 18 were waiting for the final decision. Earlier they had cheered their countryman Joost Luiten who finished the last day spectaculair. the last 5 holes he played 3 birdies. This young Dutchman collected € 177.770 for place 2 and certainly will be back next year trying to win the title.
