New Visit Kent Guide to Golf

Visit Kent has produced a glossy Guide to Golf in Kent as part of the company’s wider campaign to promote golf in the county in the run up to 2011, when Royal St Georges Golf Club in Kent will host the Open Championship for the 16th time.

The Guide highlights the diversity of Kent’s courses, from the acclaimed links courses such as Princes Golf Club and Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club to modern classics like The London Golf Club and Chart Hills and the more unique venues like Leeds Castle Golf Club. 5,000 copies in this first phase have been printed and distributed to contacts on Visit Kent’s dedicated golf database and will also be available through Visitor Information Centres and at targeted exhibitions.

Golf website

The new guide is part of a wider initiative by Visit Kent to highlight the county’s 100 plus courses to this valuable short break and long stay visitor market.
Other activity to date includes a dedicated golf microsite www.visitkent.co.uk/golf, e-newsletters, exhibition attendance, work with dedicated golf tour operators and hosting a series of press visits to the county.

Popular

Sandra Matthews-Marsh, Chief Executive of Visit Kent comments “Research shows that golf continues to grow in popularity and that golfers stay in a wide range of accommodation, and eat and drink out, which all helps to support our local economy. We are working with our colleagues in Europe to learn from their experiences and have had great support from our Visit Kent investors and other local tourism businesses who have helped us host journalists.”

Kent on the golf map

Fran Warrington, Head of Tourism at Kent County Council, the main sponsor of this initiative says “This campaign has been made possible by great partnership working with Thanet District Council, Dover District Council and Canterbury City Council as well as the Golf Courses. We look forward to putting Kent on the golf map not only for 2011 but beyond.”
