The Eifel: a pleasant surprise for your golf travel in Germany

Many golfers from Germany’s neighboring countries have set foot on the greens of German golf courses. They know German golf courses have a beautiful design; they are not too far away and often not too expensive. A few hours’ drive will take them to the heart of Germany and numerous golf courses. Germany has 900+ golf courses. Some even more beautiful than others. Courses can be found in many different surroundings. Parkland courses, wooded courses, mountain and hillside courses and up north on the coast even some links courses.
The Eifel is a beautiful and varied countryside with hills and mountains. The meandering rivers Mosel, Rhine and Ruhr mark the Eifel borders. In lush green meadows goats are busy keeping their milk production up to standard for the Eifel goat cheese. This cheese is -as many other natural products from the Eifel- marketed under its own quality brand label.
About four beautiful golf courses are located in between this magnificent nature and ecological activity. Golf resort Bitburgerland in the south Eifel for instance fits beautifully in the mountainous countryside. The 18 hole course is a pleasure to play and can very well be walked. However, do reckon with differences in height. Lesser walkers are advised to hire a buggy. Despite the fact that the necessary buggies are available, you should make your reservations well in advance, because they are sold out quickly. In any case, it is appreciated to reserve tee times in advance (a couple of days ahead) and to pass on your handicap.

Golfclub Eifel is situated further north in the Eifel, in Hillesheim. The course is beautifully integrated in the characteristic Eifel countryside. Somewhat hilly, but no major differences in height to overcome. This makes the course very suitable for senior players as well. In the Eifel there is much more to explore besides golf. Cycling, hiking and of late a lot of attention is paid to wellness. Of course, for a golfer it is not bad at all to be spoiled with wonderful massages and mud baths close to or in the hotel. Or just take a sauna or go swimming in one of the aqua parks or bubble baths.
Hotel Ritschlay in Bollendorf (South Eifel) knows what a tourist wants. Hotel owner Braun’s motto is to experience, recover and relax. He puts in every effort to make the most of your stay. The hotel offers facilities for Finnish sauna, Kneipp cure facilities, and basins for water treading, a large panorama view-relax-room, and all kinds of massages.
