Golfing in Scotland

Although considerable evidence suggests that the game of golf originated in The Netherlands, Scotland still is considered the home of golf. It seems as if everybody there plays golf and everywhere there are courses to play. The Scottish links courses are magnificent. Ask any player where he would like to play golf some time and the answer will be: St. Andrews Old Course. Unfortunately playing on this sacred ground is not in store for every golfer. But never mind, both St. Andrews and other parts of Scotland offer plenty of beautiful golf courses to play.
April to October is the best time of year to play golf in Scotland. Many courses do open during the wintertime, but there are wintergreens and temporary tee boxes.
