This is a very friendly golf course in terms of members and staff.
It’s hard to find a place to start so I’ll start with the clubhouse. A lovely building with a balcony over the course looking towards the Sierra Nevada mountains which in December is covered in snow. Very picturesque and impressive. 2 x coffees - €3 so good price.
We played on Sunday which was packed and expected it to be so but we were on a viewing trip so no worries.
On the first tee you have a putting green and 3 x driving nets - loved this! ??
Opens with a very tough hole and the second hole is the signature hole - long par 3 over water and ditch left. Difficult.
The course is very undulating and interesting but my partner and I, who have played all over the world, both reckoned the course layout was very poor. It is shoe-horned into a limited space with holes too close together and many shouts of fore were heard. A little disconcerting to say the least. Having played 15 courses in the last 30 days this was the worst layout we had experienced.
The tees and greens are very very good and the fairways closely cropped which I personally love to get the spin and check. The bunkers are also good but there is a little bit of a neglected feel around tee boxes etc where members aren’t bothered and drive buggies where they want - I saw this first hand. Disappointing.
The views are spectacular and well worth a visit but as I warned, the layout is to be desired.

Santa Clara is a very fair course to play. Staff were all very friendly and spoke good english which was useful. We are looking to come back soon as we had a great experience. Perfect day out if you're driving from Malaga as its only an hour and a half drive with a completely different scenic view than the coast. We stopped overnight and it was great to experience the Alhambra and the delicious tapas.

There has been a huge difference on the golf course in the last year and they have definitely stepped it up. The fairways were in great condition, the greens were superb, and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant has changed a lot and the food is incredible, with amazing views. I really recommend the course now.

A very unique golf course! We had amazing views of the white mountains in the background and we were playing at 22 degrees! The staff were very attentive and the course was in great conditions. One of the best greens I've played on in a while.

This course can be fairly dried out because of the lack of rain and hydration. This year the fairways were nice lushes, green and well kept. (Thank you rain) The greens were also very nice but not to fast, no complaint though. We were also nicely surprised with the change they have made to the 3rd hole. This was announced by the very friendly starter.

An excellently designed golf Course with good greens and a warm reception in the classy clubhouse and from the golfing team was let down badly in one respect the appalling state of the fairways. Preferred lies is now the rule all the time but what a shame! In the Club’s defence the climate of Granada which is very dry and hot in the summer and cold in the winter probably does not help and to improve the fairways is difficult and probably costly.
There were a number of stand-out holes and poor course signage (a criticism of previous reviewers) is now adequate. There is potential here for a high standard golf course it will be interesting to see if this is realised over the coming years.

The location of the golf course at the foot of the Sierra Nevada allows for some beautiful scenery. The first point of improvement would be that there is no driving range close, you need to get in your car (which we didn't do).
Then this is a long course with some pretty interesting holes. That is OK for me, but my wife could not appreciate the fact that the red tees were invariably close to the yellow tees. Advice is to create tee boxes that shorten the holes for people that don't hit it a country mile.
Further, both the fairways and greens were having longer grass causing less roll on the ball on the fairways and slow and sometimes wobbly greens. The routing to get from hole 4 to hole 5 was not clear to us.
Another point of improvement would be to have a map of the hole at the tees, preferably with some distance indications, so you get an idea on the distance to certain hazards. For instance, hole 8.
After the round we asked for some tapas in the bar. They could offer none, but while we took our drink a plate with some nice snacks was offered for which we did not need to pay. That was great service!
